Ingredients
- 1 red pepper, diced finely
- 1 white onion, diced finely
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 6 ounce can tomato paste
- 1/4 cup coconut aminos
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp ground pepper
- 1 cup water, plus more as needed
- green onions, to garnish
Instructions
- First, in a large skillet, add red pepper, onion and olive oil. Sauté for about 7-8 minutes or until onions become soft.
- Next, add in ground beef and cook on medium until brown and crumbly.
- Discard excess fat from pan. Then, add in remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and let simmer for at least 15-20 minutes, adding more water if mixture becomes too dry. Lastly, remove from heat.
- Finally, garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
- Ground beef can be substituted with ground turkey or ground chicken.
- Add more water (or broth) to the skillet if needed.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, either microwave or add to a skillet over low heat. Add broth or water to the skillet if needed.
