Ingredients

Instructions

  • First, in a shallow bowl or pie plate, add the eggs, milk, gluten free flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Whisk together.
  • Dip each piece of bread in this mixture until fully coated.
  • Add the butter to a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, place the coated bread in.
  • Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  • Finally, remove from the heat. Top with chocolate chips and maple syrup if desired.

Notes

  • For the best results, use bread that is slightly stale or a day or two old.  Bread that is super soft may become soggy.
  • Whisk the egg and milk mixture until completely creamy.
  • Use regular or dairy free milk.
  • Coat each piece of bread in the mixture, but do not let it get soggy.
  • Cook until the bread is golden and crispy along the edges.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, place it in the toaster oven or microwave until warmed.
